This F-86D 'Sabre-Dog' was being restored and prepared for display on a pole outside the 358th FS HQ at Davis-Monthan AFB when photographed from the USAF tour bus early one Saturday morning.
In February 1987 the Southwest Aerospace Museum was located at the edge of Carswell AFB and contained a number of very interesting exhibits. This F-86L Sabre was one of the aircraft on display there. This museum later closed.
I have always had a soft spot for the re-engined and deeper F-86H Sabre, this appears to be QF-86H 53-1351 which some sources record as currently preserved as 'nose only' at Chino.
