Since 1949 still in duty!!! ... This Skytrain is active in 355/1. STM (tac. transport flight) / 113. PM (combat wing) - Thessaloniki-Mikra AFB. Very nice and rare bird! Probably oldest army transport plane in Europe.
Air Atlantique had painted some of its Dakotas in their original RAF Transport Command colours. Two days after this picture was taken all Dakotas were grounded for passenger service.
Back in the late 80's the National Museum of Naval Aviation at Pensacola was much smaller than now and it was possible to wander amongst the rare aircraft types kept outside including 'Que Sera Sera', famous for landing on the ice at the South Pole.
