On 19 May 1951, the Rolls-Royce Nene-powered Machtrainer prototype S.14/2 (PH-NDY) made her maiden flight from Amsterdam-Schiphol, in a KLu c/s and marked ‘K-1’. The aircraft transferred to the NLR in August 1961, registered PH-XIV.
displayed during a small show back in 1995. This example is now stored until the new museum opens in 2013. The S-14 was also known as "the Plank" because of its thick straight wing.
The Fokker S-14 was the first purpose designed and built jet trainer. Overtaken by the Lockheed T-33 only a small series for the Dutch Air Force was built.
