Back to the 26th June 1988 and the Chievres Open House in Belgium, I managed to get a shot of this awesome Republic F-84F Thunderstreak which was on display within the base. She was FU-33 coded '3R-B'.
This Thunderflash was one of the first slides I took back in 1991. Then it was still carrying its original AMI colour scheme. Now it it still in the same place at a cart-track - at least it is preserved!
RF-84F-25-RE (ex USAF52-7355) ‘EB-250’ of AKG-52. This unit operated the RF-84F from 1959 until 1964 from Eggebek Air Base. The Thunderflash was previously on display at Leck, where AKG-52 was based when operating the RF-4E Phantom.
This side of the Jagel gate guard is in the colours of AKG-51 Immelmann, representing RF-84F-46-RE 53-7678 ‘EA-251’ as operating from Erding and Manching in the early 1960’s. That aircraft was later re-coded ‘EA-351’.
Belgian Air Force (ex-USAF) F-84F preserved at a roundabout, in the small village of Vodecée, where the roads N98 & N97 meet. The aircraft points into the direction of the gate of its former airbase: Florennes AFB.
Valentines Day 1987 and my first MASDC Photographer's Tour, walking along the 'Display Row'. This was another relic from the past, a Republic F-84F Thunderstreak last operated by the 101st TFS / 102nd TFW Massachusetts ANG out of Otis AFB.
