ZD948 has been stored for many years. In March 2018 registration N304CS was allocated, but still not worn. Tristar Air, that intends to fly these aircraft on behalf of the US Navy, will have to do some work before these aircraft are fully operational.
Back to October 1999 and this was C-141B 66-0205 marked CR0031, she was last operated by the 57th AS / 97th AMW out of Altus AFB, OK. Entered AMARC January 1997 and disposed of September 2003. She was not in good shape when I took this photo.
Back to October 1999, this was A-7K 80-0288 coded AE 062 last operated by the 149th TFS Virginia ANG. She entered AMARC 24th September 1991. She had 'Elvira' artwork applied under the rear cockpit. Scrapped May 2012.
Back to October 1999 and this was C-141B 66-0205 marked CR0031, she was last operated by the 57th AS / 97th AMW out of Altus AFB, OK. Entered AMARC January 1997 and disposed of September 2003. She does carry a piece of nose art "Crossing the Red".
October 1999 and a poor photo from a moving tour bus, this was C-27A 91-0104 last operated by the 24th Wing out of Howard AFB, Panama City. The aircraft in the background are also interesting, what appear to be TC-4C Academes out of NAS Oceana.
Also on display in October 1999, this was a true 'Cold War Warrior' - the EC-135C 'Looking Glass' serial 62-3585 operated by the 55th Wing out of Offutt, Nebraska. She entered AMARC in June 1998, scrapped September 2016.
A very interesting old gal, she is NKC-135A '553134' and seems she was operated by the U.S, Navy FEWSG as a 'Big Crow' platform, an airborne electronic threat simulator? She has a big bump under the nose, a canoe fairing, plus other lumps and bumps.
Early October 1999 and this was a row of F-111 tail fins. To the left is F-111A 67-0091 as previously posted here, then EF-111A 66-0051 marked as CC/429ECS, then F-111F 73-0710 CC/Hounds with much farewell graffiti, then EF-111A 67-0038.
To the right 58-0178 coded BC0360 last operated by the 93rd BW out of Castle AFB, CA. It just looks like someone has attacked the cockpit of 58-0178 with a tin opener! Am guessing that she had some noteworthy art work!
