This R4D was delivered to U.S. Navy as '50783'. It served from October 1944 till 1979. After serving with the Department Of Forestry from 1968 till 1979, it was aquired by the CAF in 1980.
The Bell XV-3 (Bell 200) was a tiltrotor aircraft developed by Bell Helicopter for a joint research program between the United States Air Force and the United States Army, to explore convertiplane technologies. This example is the sole remaining XV-3.

Rangsdorf was used as helicopter maintenance site and also used for aircraft destruction. Lots of wrecks & relics could be found here like this former Rangsdorf gateguard 88 RED.
w/o 6 september 2000. The Hercules, crashed while it was dumping water over a forest fire in southeastern France.
The aircraft had just carried out a first passage; on the second one it flew into a hill killing all six onboard.
