Last Flight of the Day, testing some equipment for Gruppe Rüstung/Armasuisse. Note the two antennas behind the Cockpit and the fresh paint, with the loss of a nice Tiger Noseart. Flying today in USN.
One of the very, very rare sights you can have at Meiringen - Formation landing of Double- and Singleseater F-5 Tiger II. Training of the Austrian Pilots in 2004. Doubleseater is J-3205. J-3001 is flying now as 761526 in the States.
For many years J-3001 was the trials aircraft of the Swiss AF. With the withdrawl eminent this low hour airframe has been transferred to active squadron service.
The Swiss test unit Gruppe für Rüstungsdienste used J-3001 for various tests. The aircraft was abandoned a couple of years ago and was transferred to normal squadron service. Now it is flying with the US Navy.
J-3001 leads a 4-ship of Tiger J-3014, J-3033 and J-3060. J-3001 and J-3060 were sold to the USN and are flying now as (ex J-3001) 761526 at VFC-13 and (ex J-3060) 761585 at VFC-111. J-3014 was on wet lease in Austria and will be sold also to the USN.
