The B-57E version of the plane was the first aircraft in the U.S. inventory specifically built for towing aerial targets. The B-57E could be converted to a bomber and a number of them were converted to replace combat loses in Vietnam!

The F-86H was the last of the non-radar equipped, day-fighter Sabres and was intended for use as a fighter-bomber capable of dropping nuclear weapons. It did, however continue in service with the Air National Guard into the 1970s!

The Demon was the Navy's first swept-wing, all-weather, missile-armed fighter. Design work on the F3H began in 1949, but delays due to engine problems resulted in the prototype not flying until 1951 and the first production aircraft didn´t fly until 1953!

Tomcats entered service on the USS Enterprise in 1974, and flew some of the last American combat missions over Vietnam by April 1975. The F-14 has participated in every major American military engagement of the 20 years until leave the navy in 2006!

The Cougar turned out to be very adaptable and several versions made of this aircrafts. One of the more important of these is this photoreconnaissance version. This version incorporated a larger nose housing cameras and a fixed position refueling probe!

The Mustang remained in military service in the United States Air Force until 1957 and the last combat Mustang was retired by the Dominican Air Force in 1984. Mustangs remain popular in civilian hands with nearly 100 flying in private hands!

Despite the improvement over the P-39 the P-63 was still inferior to other fighters that were in production for the Army Air Force and very few Kingcobras entered service with the U.S. military and none saw combat! Thia one is leased from a private owner!

The U.S. Army named the helicopter Tarhe, but most people call them Skycranes. The CH-54 served through the last years of the Vietnam War and finally left military service in the early 1990s. Many Skycranes still in use by many companies!

The last Guardians were retired in 1957. Of the 389 Guardians built only 5 survived scrapping. These 5 were purchased for conversion for fire fighting. They flew with the Aero Union Corporation in California until 1973!

The DC-9, MD-80 and MD-90 have been so popular that they survived the demise of McDonnell-Douglas and reemerged as the Boeing 717 in the late 90s. The USAF adopted the C-9A Nightingale for use as medical transport and the Navy the C-9B for general duties!

The F-5 was developed in conjunction with the T-38 Talon trainer as a private venture of the Northrop company. The U.S. Government selected it in 1962 for production as an export fighter for countries participating in the Military Assistance Program!
