During the early nineties the Swiss skies were black with Hunters. It was not uncommon to see more than ten flying a day. This came to a sudden halt when the Hunter was withdrawn in 1994.
This red paint lasted just one day. Hours after the disbanding ceremony of Fliegerstaffel 2 the paint was removed again. J-4138 was wfu September 1993 and scrapped.
Turtmann was situated in the heart of the Alps. After take off the aircraft had to make a steep climb out of the Rhone valley. This Hunter carries two large bombs underneath the wings, making the aircraft even less manouvrable.
