During the late 1980s, a number of Tu-22KDs where rebuilt with an ECM system replacing the tail gun. This comprised the SPS-151, SPS-152 or SPS-153 system in a streamlined fairing.

The two small domes behind the cockpit are for the BTs63 astro-sextants, used for long-range navigation.
The Tu-22U was the least evolutionary of the entire Tu-22 family. Most of them where based at Dyagilevo near Ryazan, the main training base for Long-Range Aviation. The 43rd training centre (43 TsBP i PLS) was located there.
By the mid-1980's, the Soviet Air Force had recognised the inadequacy of the tail gun and began with refitting it by an ECM-system instead. This Tu-22KD is showing its SPS-151 type ECM Tail, maybe a SPS-100 Reseda System active jammer unit.
The eagle and shield badge shows that this aircraft belonged to 2nd squadron of 121 TBAP at Machulishchi, now in the independent republic of Belarus. Kodachrome6
