This SP-2H Neptune arrived at AMARC in 1974/75 and is still on display here 35 years later. Her 'PJ' code indicates that she was operated by VP-69, a Reserve unit out of Whidbey Island NAS, WA.
Back to October 1989 at the National Museum of Naval Aviation, Pensacola, FL. This is Lockheed P2V-1 Neptune BuNo 89082 "The Truculent Turtle" which on 29th September 1946 set a world record for non-stop, non-refueled flight.
This was SP-2H Bu.No 148340 pcn 1P 403 last operated by VP-94, a US Navy Reserve unit based at New Orleans NAS, LA, coded 'LZ-3'. She entered store in July 1976 and was scrapped April 2011.
