410 Sqn jet painted up for the 75th anniversary of the RCAF and Canadian Forces Air Command in 1999. Trim is RCAF blue, and that’s the RCAF crest and tartan on the tail.
Two-seat Hornet ‘929 from 410 Sqn received tail markings in 1996 for the 25th Anniversary of 1 Air Maintenance Squadron at CFB Cold Lake. It was used as a demo aircraft at the Reno Air Races.
410 Squadron’s demo jet for 1993 was the first CF-18 demo aircraft with airbrushed markings. Given that the previous year’s “special scheme” was a red Maple Leaf tail flash on standard grey markings, this Cougar tail caused a stir when it appeared.
This summer the fresh pilots had graduated from Pilatus PC-21 and those days they have already there first solo-flights on Hornet. This young pilot here is in one of the last training-missions bevore this event.
Waiting to cross at the runway threshold at NTM09. The organisers did a fantastic job at this event and all the aircraft had to taxi past the waiting photographers on arrival.
