Together with Hornet J-5018, this a/c received an Tail Art last december. J-5017 is the flag ship of Payerne-based Fightersquadron 17, called 'Falcons' and can be seen here on the last daylight take-off of the day.
Heavy and expensive loaden, this Hornet takes off during an Scramble-exercise. Switzerland has no QRA and for that, armed aircrafts are rare seen. The AN/ASQ-228 ATFLIR is the 1st of the 14 commanded.
This Hornet is very often used for testing new avionics/weapons and mostly based in Emmen (flights for RUAG/armasuisse). Here it can be seen taking off from Payerne with an FRA-Pod.
