Just wanted to let all the photographers know that the progress bar at the bottom of the upload page is currently sent out for service and not visible. The photos will upload. As soon as the photo is uploaded, you will get a confirmation at the top of the page. Please do not hesitate to upload photos because of it. We are working diligently to get it fixed as soon as possible.

Ok, we got the Upload Progress Bar back from the vendor today, and to save time they shipped it back to us overnight. It just needed some minor polishing, that's all. Just installed it and ready to go. Any problems, please report it here.

Hi Jorg,
Were you able to upload after that, or does it keep repeating the same message? -Ray |

Ray,
I'm also experiencing trouble with the upload page. Tried to upload two photos today and the process failed. First, I noticed the photo upload bar "looping-up" at about 15-20% of the process, then the upload page itself timed-out and I was re-directed to a non-available address. Yours, Carlos Ay |

Quote Ray, Having the same problem with the upload bar 'looping' at about 15-20% of the process just as Carlos has reported above. I haven't let it go to the time out stage though. Any clues? Regards, Tom |

Hi Tom and Carlos,
I have checked this thoroughly and can't find anything wrong with it. Because it works fine most of the time, the only thing I can attribute it to is the host or connection at time of upload. Was the site working very slow when this happened? A few of you have reported the site to be slow at times in Europe and that could be the cause. I will have a chat with the hosting company about it. I'm sorry for the trouble. -Ray |

Hi guys
I am having the same problem as Tom and Carlos when uploading photographs. It can be a bit hit or miss, sometimes you can load a few then other times it struggles to upload one. This has happend a few times in the past. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but when the upload bar wasn,t there I was able to upload without any problem. David |

Hmmm...ok, we will add an option to turn it off. Will that work? It's really there for visual confirmation only, to give some kind of feed back that something is happening. Will let you know how it goes...

Hi Ray,
Not too sure whether that would solve the problem as it is clear that the upload process 'loops' at around the 61kb stage of whatever file I try to upload then eventually it times out. Strange one I guess and for your info I've tried it with IE7, Avant browser and Firefox, all with the same outcome. Thanks for looking at it, Cheers, Tom |

Well, lets give it a try and see what happens. I have a feeling this will take care of the problem. Default setting is of course "On". Click the "Off" link to turn it off and see what happens.

Well, despite turning the bar on or off, using different browsers, saving files under different names etc. I still encounter the same problem and only have approximately 10% success in attempting uploads. Dont know what else you can do (if anything) however I'm just letting you know that the problem is still there for me.
Cheers, Tom |

Hi Tom,
I'm sorry to hear you're having problems still. A 10% success rate is not acceptable at all. I was really hoping that would take care of the problems. I'll keep digging and see what we can come up with. Thanks for trying. -Ray |

Hi Guys
I'm still having the same problem, I can upload 1 or 2 and then thats it. I have tried logging in and out, clearing cookies etc but it's still the same. maybe it doesn't like my pictures and is self screening! David |

Tried uploading again today ( I managed to get four on yesterday!) with the usual size of file but the upload timed out and a message in a red banner came up saying "The minimum photo dimensions are 650x800 or 800x500.

Tried uploading a few photos today at 13.00 GMT using Firefox and the upload just froze and locked up my PC, not even Ctrl-Alt-Delete would unlock it. This happened three times. Then I switched to Internet Explorer and it worked perfectly :O_o

I have the same problems while uploading. Most of the times the upload bar stops at 70% and than falls back 60% to upload again to 70% and than falls back again etc. Sometimes the bar is even downloading more bytes than the picture is , but still no succesfull uploading afterwards.....

I think we can say for certain now that it is not the Progress Bar causing the hang-ups. As to exactly what it is, I'm not sure. This really has me puzzled as it works fine 99.9% of the time for almost everyone. I've had two other people review the script and they can't find anything wrong with it either. I guess it could be a combination of things coming together at the same time and causing the failed uploads.
For those of you having problems, can I suggest uploading the photos without entering any data and if successful, editing the photo afterwards to fix the data. This can be a bit of a time saver. I'm sorry for you guys having these problems. I'll let you know if by chance I find anything. -Ray |

Hi Ray,
Just to let you know that in my case I can't even upload without entering any data. You are aware of what I've tried in order to find a successful upload method but no joy!! Very frustrating, hope it gets sorted soon. Regards Tom |

Guess what team it's me again!
After two weeks and a morale boosting evening where I managed to get a few pictures uploaded the problem is still there. Usual stuff, no matter the file size it 'hangs' at 61kb, all problems there no matter what the browser, whether I have other programs running or not etc. etc. Just wanted to keep the issue visible as it isn't going away for me!! Yours, frustrated. Tom |

I'm very sorry Tom. I sense your frustration. Believe me, we've spent dozens of hours looking at it to see why it's not working for you and a couple of other member 100% of the time to no avail. I've been banging my head about it for a while. You should see the bruises on my forehead.

Ray,
One thing I have noticed but may not be related is that when I am logged in my name does not appear at the bottom left of the page showing as a logged in member. John Higgins and I have talked this one over and we discussed re-registering i.e. kill this account and subscribe again. Thoughts? I would do this as long as it meant me not losing my pics already uploaded. Regards, Tom |

Hi Tom,
I still think your problem has to be something local. I see your name as a logged member when you're logged in to the site. When you log in, do you see "Logged in as TomG" at the very top of the page, where the login area is? I don't think re-registering will solve the problem. My guess is you are running some program, maybe anti virus or firewall, that is causing the problems and thus re-registering would probably not help. Also, have you ever logged in from another computer? That would be a good test. Let me know if you can do that please. -Ray |

hi Guys
Just a quick note. I have been uploading my photographs ok over the past couple of weeks. If it doesn't upload the first time I just press the upload photo's at the top and try again which has worked on most occasions. David |
