On display in the Pima Museum in early 1987, this Husky was sold on to become N100PL and was operated by Pro-Lift, Inc, then Moseley Aviation Inc In September 1999 she was destroyed when she fatally collided with terrain near Phoenix, AZ.
When photographed in early 1987 C-97G HB-ILY looked somewhat different to now. She is wearing the rudder and part tail fin of C-97G 52-2759 showing Illinois ANG markings, yet records show that she is really 52-2626.
A very interesting photo taken at the Pima Air & Space Museum in early 1987. She is a very rare McDonnell F-3B Demon and is generally listed as Bu.No 145221 which she wore when photographed. When she was restored by the Museum she became 143492 .
TF-10B Bu.No 124629 was restored by the Pima Air & Space Museum in the early 1990's to a dark blue Marines colour scheme. However, when photographed in early 1987 she was clearly a former U.S. Navy machine with an NJ code.
Formerly operated by the 17th DSES out of Malmstrom AFB, MT, this Canberra entered MASDC in July 1979. In September 1989 she went on display at the Wings Over The Rockies Aviation and Space Museum in Colorado.
Formerly operated by an Army National Guard unit, this VH-34C entered MASDC in Nov 1972. She has since transferred to the Air Force Flight Test Center Museum, Edwards AFB, CA.
The US Army has always sought to achieve the maximum potential of Boeing-Vertol's CH-47 Chinook design. These very early CH-47A Chinooks were in store at AMARC in 1987 awaiting conversion to CH-47D or MH-47E standard.
Formerly operated by the 122nd TFS / 159th TFG Louisiana ANG this 'Hun' entered MASDC in April 1979. Just five months after this photo was taken on AMARC's 'Celebrity Row' she was flown to Mojave CA to be converted to QF-100D drone standard.
Formerly operated by the 118th FIS / 103rd FIG Connecticut ANG this 'Deuce' arrived at MASDC in 1971. Sixteen years later she was on display on 'Celebrity Row' minus any preservative cover or spraylat and was looking distinctly weather-worn.
Formerly operated by the Texas ANG 111th FITS / 147th FIG this Voodoo entered MASDC in July 1982. Some web based sources list her presently at Fort Meade.
Formerly operated by the 357th TAS (AFRES) out of Maxwell AFB AL this 'Bou entered MASDC in November 1983. In June 1988 she was sold on to the civilian register as N2225C. On 29th August 2001 she crashed at Port Alsworth Airport, AK. Since scrapped.
Formerly operated by VMA-513 out of MCAS Yuma AZ this AV-8C entered AMARC in December 1986. When photographed two months later she was in the preservation process before her long storage.
Formerly operated by the 4949th TW AFSC/ASD this NC-135A probably flew as a highly modified test aircraft out of Wright-Patterson AFB. When I caught her in AMARC in 1987 she was still showing evidence of the modifications that had been made to her.
1987 saw the final F-106 Delta Darts entering AMARC and the skies no longer thundered with the sound of the Delta Dart in regular USAF service. In this photo tail fin markings show former ownership by the 5th, 49th and 87th Fighter Interceptor Squadrons.
Not all the F-106 Delta Darts wore colourful markings. This F-106B 57-2539 photographed in AMARC in February 1987 looked to be quite a "Plain Jane" and most likely last served with the Air Defence Weapons Centre (ADWC) at Tyndall AFB.
Caught during a Photographers Tour of AMARC in February 1987 this F-106A 59-0066 wears the markings of the 87th FIS who were based at K.I. Sawyer AFB, Michigan. The triple red bands suggest that she was a "Boss Bird". She 'died' on 22nd Sept 1995.
