One of four Vampires based on aérodrome Melun-Villaroche was completely destroyed by an devastating fire on December 8th, 2018. Another one was heavy damaged. The status of this former Swiss Air Force J-1192 is still unclear.
Sitting on the flightline on its last day in Keflavik with the 57th FIS. One of the F-4Es 66-0300 still has no squadron markings. It was also the last F-4E to leave in 1985, see another photo of it that day.
Taxying in from the runway soon after coming back from Getafe, Spain after rework. It was the second F-4C to come back in a new finish of glossy grey, more in line with the air defence role of these aircraft with the 57th FIS.
Here shown about to leave Iceland after its service with the 57th FIS. In this instance it has the partial paintwork that was applied to 63-7589. The third grey F-4C for the 57th FIS. was 63-7685, which came so late that it never received any sqn. marks.
This De Havilland DH-100 Vampire (ex-Swiss Air Force J-1192), now in French Air Force c/s, was visiting Cambrai Air Base during the arrival day for the fly-out ceremony of EC1/12, and is seen here turning final for landing on RWY28.
