Originally constructed as a KC-135A and later converted to KC-135E, this is 56-3658 which was operated by the 117th AREFS / 190th AREFG Kansas ANG out of Forbes Field, Topeka KS.
Kansas Aviation Museum's B-52D 55-0094 is, according to the museums guide, a war veteran, having flown missions from Andersen AFB Guam as well as U Tapao RTNB between 1966 and 1975.
An old military stalwart of the 1950's! This 'Lead Sled' is recorded as 52-9089 and she was formerly on display at Lackland AFB TX. She was built at Fairfax Field in Kansas City in 1954 with someparts constructed by Cessna and Beechcraft.
On display at the Kansas Aviation Museum, an O-2B Super Skymaster 67-21469 which was built in Wichita. The Museum's guide says this plane served in Vietnam. I checked her serial in an old book and she was listed as a GO-2B with the TTC at Sheppard AFB.
An unusual sight at Mojave in the late 80's was this unmarked Gloster Meteor NF.11. She is the example which is now on display in the Edwards AFB Museum. Originally with the Royal Air Force as WD592.
Now on display outside the NASA Ames-Dryden Flight Research Facility at Edwards AFB, the Bell X-1E flown by Joseph Walker achieved Mach 2.24 (1480 MPH) on the 8th October 1957. She was retired in late 1958.
