For this season is Spitfire in marking of the czechoslovak fighter ace WWII. F/Lt Otto Smik DFC - sq. leader 312. sq. was on this Spit (orig. r/n ML 296 - HF.MK.IX version) shot down by flak during strafing on Gilze-Rijen AB 3.9.1944 (Ramrod 1258).
