N5628 of No.263 Squadron, probably coded 'HE-B', had been damaged on 25 April 1940, in a German air raid on the squadron's ice airfield on Lesjaskogsvatnet, Norway. When the ice melted in the spring warmth, the Gladiator sank to the bottom of the lake.
