Seen here in the new display hangar of the Ashburton Aviation Museum is Vampire T.11 NZ5707 in the markings of 14 Squadron, RNZAF. The T.11 is ex RAF XH265 and was delivered to the RNZAF in 1955.

B.2 WH734 was delivered to Flight Refuelling Ltd. at Tarrant Rushton in 1953 and later served with the RAE at Llanbedr as a B.2/TT18. After scrapping in 2004 the cockpit section came to New Zealand a year later and is seen here in the new display hall.

NZ5770, ex RAF WA444, was transferred to the RNZAF in June 1956; served with 75 Squadron and was part of its 'Yellowhammers' aerobatic team. NZ5770, in 14 Squadron c/s, is now on display at the Southward Motor Museum, Paraparaumu on the Kapiti Coast.

MJ627 (ex Irish Air Corps IAC-158) landing on 24-Grass. The Spitfire is in the markings of 441 'Silver Fox' Squadron, RCAF, and is based at East Kirkby in Lincolnshire and is regularly flown by former BBMF fighter pilot S/L Paul Day.

R4922 served with 7 EFTS during World War II. In the 1950s the Tiger Moth was converted to 4-seat Jackaroo. In 1976 R4922 was rebuilt as a standard Tiger Moth and is operated now by Classic Wings at Duxford for pleasure flights.

Martin Willing in his T-28S Fennec. The aircraft is in an AdlA c/s as worn in Algeria in the early 1960s. The badge under the cockpit is that of EALA 7/72 ‘Fennec’. With 12/72 it formed the new EALA 03/09, parented by EC 9 based at Bône airfield, Algeria.

85 Fighter Squadron badge on the portside of chin. The original “Lee’s Hope” had the artwork on both sides as well as a Vargas style pin-up on the starboard side of the rudder.

TFC staff applied a Vargas-style lady to the starboard side of White 17’s rudder, similar to the work of art seen on a number of war-time 79th FG Warhawks. The P-40F is piloted here by Stephen Grey.

The TFC Hawk was shipped to the France in April 1939 and issued to GC II/5 at Reims, thereafter based at Toul during the Battle of France. She survived the war came to Duxford in the 80's. The Hawk is in the markings of the 1ére Escadrille GC II/5.

Stephen Grey in his new P-40F prior to Duxford Air Show 2011. She has the emblem of 85th FS on the chin. The wartime Lee’s Hope carried the badge on both sides. The P-40 was assigned to 1st Lt Robert J. Duffield. He renamed it later as ‘Speedy Edie'.

Until 2006 this Ca.22 was on display at the Caproni Museum in Italy. It was in service as a two-seat observation aircraft with the 15a Squadriglia based near Piacenza in April 1915 and also carried out bombing operations over enemy territory.

Austrian designer Igo Etrich's elegant Taube has the distinction of being the most bird-like of any successful aeroplane ever built. This airworthy replica was built by the Historische Flugzeugbau Fürstenwalde and first took to the skies in 2000.

John G. Day’s Fokker Dr.I replica 403/17 G-CDXR. The aircraft is powered by a Warner Super Scarab S50 engine and sports the markings of Leutnant Johann Janzen of Jasta 6, JG 1. Mikael Carlson’s Dr.I is in the same colours and also performed at Legends.

With its high-lift wings and fixed slots the Storch can take off and land in less than 200 feet. The Storch has a stall speed of slightly less than 25 mph. Manoeuvrability at low speed (and low level) is exceptional as is demonstrated here.

Buchon C.4K-169 operated from Duxford in the summer of 1968 during the filming of ‘The Battle of Britain’. The machine is now based in Germany and is in a JG 27 scheme, representing a Bf 109G flown by the Geschwader Kommodore Major Ludwig Fanzisket.

'284' was part of the 73rd Pursuit Squadron, 18 PG, at Wheeler Field, Oahu at the time of the Japanese air attacks on Pearl Harbor. Restored to her former glory, the aircraft is now part of The Fighter Collection at Duxford.
