For 12 weeks a year German CH-53s are involved in mountain training exercises in Switzerland. During these exercises they are temporarely based at Alpnach.
The Lynx is in service with The Royal Netherlands Navy since 1978. They were delivered in 3 batches: 6 SH-14A, 10 SH-14B and 8 SH-14C. Since 1993 they're all converted to the standard SH-14D. In 2013 they will be gone and replaced by the new NH90.
The Dutch SAR helicopter are called "Tweety" by the locals. I haven't got a clue why...
On the tailboom you can see the Frisian flag. Leeuwarden, the homebase of these helicopters, is the capitol of the Dutch provence Friesland.
