Photo ID 124070 by Baldur Sveinsson. USA Navy Israel IAI F 21A Kfir, 999709
Photo ID: 124070
Not often illustrated is the Kfir from VF-43 which is stated to have operated at least 12 of these for dissimilar air to air training. BuNo on this example is barely visible, but contradicts reports that 999*** serial Kfirs were not used by VF-43.
Photo ID 124069 by Baldur Sveinsson. USA Navy Grumman F 14A Tomcat, 161287
Photo ID: 124069

Photo ID 124068 by Baldur Sveinsson. USA Navy Grumman F 14A Tomcat, 161860
Photo ID: 124068
Taken before the F-14A was modified to an F-14B. I like this old paintcheme much more than the dull grey paint, which seemed to look dirty very soon after painting. The extreme deflection of the horizontal stabilizer is intersting. Nose wheel just in air.
Photo ID 124067 by Baldur Sveinsson. USA Navy Grumman F 14A Tomcat, 161856
Photo ID: 124067
Taking off on a training mission. The dull dark grey paint sure does not improve a dull day photo.

Photo ID: 124043
Taxying back to headquarters. By this time all the 57th T-birds were grey allover and only had a short time still left in Iceland. 575 was in Iceland in 1972 at least and was sent back on April 1, 1985 along with the other two, 58-0540 and 58-0575.

Photo ID 123900 by Baldur Sveinsson. Germany Navy Lockheed F 104G Starfighter, 25 02
Photo ID: 123900
One of the many F-104G/RF-104G fighters from the German Navy that visited Keflavik in the late 1970s. It was quite a trip for the stubby wing fighter loaded with underwing fuel tanks. However I never heard of mishaps or losses on this kind of mission.

Photo ID 123864 by Baldur Sveinsson. USA Navy Grumman F 14A Tomcat, 159433
Photo ID: 123864
The second Tomcat that I saw this day taking off that day climbs into the overcast sky. Not the best day for photography, but one has to take the conditions in ones stride. Not often that you get a personal guided tour of Oceana.
