VP-11, Pegasus was a frequent sight in Keflavik from the time they received their update Orions, and are here on the usual parking spot. All of their planes on this deployment had the same last digit of the BuNo as the modex or nose number, here 9.
This VP-23 Orion is parked on the sloping ramp south of the VP hangar with the old civilian terminal visible in the background. The beautiful Seahawk markings stand out.
One of the VP-40 Laging Handa Orions on the flight line at Keflavik. One of the special VP-40 identifying features of VP-40 was that they painted the cockpit window posts black.
Taking part in Northern Viking 97, this B-52 has to be closely watched while towed arounf the too narrow Keflavik taxiways so that the wingtip wheels do not hit any obstacles.
One of a number of Oceana Intruders I photographed that day, probably all that were on station, shown taking off. This one from VA-42, Green Pawns although there is nothing green on the aircraft.
This Norwegian F-16 just finished taking on fuel from one of the TDY KC-135 tankers based at NAS Keflavik. It was working with the F-15s of the 85th Operations Squadron, that hosted the TDY fighters for six to twelve weeks each.
Taken during a familiarisation flight to RAF Leuchars. The two F-16s made two low approaches and then returned to NAS Keflavik with the tanker. We had low cloud cover nearly all the way.
Taken from a tanker side window, showing the two F-16Cs that we escorted to Scotland to make two practice approaches to RAF Leuchars, which was their divert base. The side windows are usually bad for photography and often only a small spot can be useable.
Just before touchdown on runway 20, this F-16 has markings to commemorate the 45th anniversary of 312 Squadron. It was in Keflavik for Norvik 97. Note the horizontal tail on the F-16 is in line with the fuselage angle, opposed to the F-15s horizontal lie.
The first service test example of the F-16B is being shown to Icelandic and Norwegian guests of Northrop while on tour of Edwards AFB. They were in Hawthorne for the unveiling of the restored Northrop N-3PB.
