A very unusual Starfighter, this is West German F-104G 2454 belonging to T Gp 11 seen at the 1985 International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford. This colour scheme was virtually a one-off applied before the type was retired.

The ninth Lockheed C-141 Starlifter built, 63-8078 performs a pass over the runway at the 1985 International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford. She was probably still operated by the 437th MAW based at Charleston AFB, South Carolina. Scrapped in June 2003.

This A-10A was caught from the "photobus" at the 1985 International Air Tattoo. Her red fin band indicates that she belonged to the 78th TFS based at Woodbridge as part of the 81st TFW.

Starfighters look good whatever the weather - which was just as well at the 1993 IAT at RAF Fairford where the Saturday morning started with buckets of rain and the opportunity for lots of moody shots. This Turkish Air Force TF-104G was German 27+03.

This photo was taken at the 1989 Point Mugu Open House. I absolutely love this colour scheme and this Sea Knight just looks so smart with the high vis markings. Sadly this machine was SOC in 1994.

Caught on a dull July day at the 1985 International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford, this photograph of the front half of P-3C Orion 159318 shows the proud hi-vis markings which were still worn by VP-45 at that time. She was marked as "LN-47".
