The entire day it was cloudy. When we had arrived back in the hotel the sun appeared and the military did fly an evening mission. Our trip back to the base proved a right decision.
This is the strangest picture I've ever taken: a Tiger rolls through the village of Turtmann while the traffic on the main street is halted by traffic lights and soldiers.
A very rare sight: a Mirage at Turtmann. From 1968 to 1975 Mirage IIIS were based on Turtmann, They made way for Tigers and Hunters during their annual three weeks training course. This Mirage came along for just one touch and go. Thanks!
During the last deployment of Hunters to Turtmann airfield. This one has the badges of both Fl St 7 and Fl St 20 on the nose. The aircraft is now preserved by Hunterverein Interlaken.
The ground personnel units FlPl Abt 3 and Fl Kp 8 painted a combined badge on the Tigers during the very last refresher course that was held at Turtmann. Turtmann was closed a few hours after this picture was taken.
My first trip to a Swiss refresher course produced lots of Hunters and Tigers. With no fences surrounding the airfield it was a photographers paradise!
