The 439th Airlift Wing (439 AW) is an active United States Air Force Reserve unit. It is assigned to the Air Force Reserve Command, Fourth Air Force, and is based at Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts.
This was the 25th May 1991 and this 2nd Bomb Wing Extender takes off during the 1991 Mildenhall Air Fete, reminding us that Mildenhall was then a very active base. Listed 31 years later as still active with the 60th AMW.
The 1991 Mildenhall Air Fete static included a number of aircraft that had taken part in the first Gulf War. This H.P Victor K.2 XM717 was one of those aircraft and she wore "Lucky Lou" nose art.
