There still remain doubts over the exact identity of this Me 262. Generally referred to as an A-2a, it is more likely to be an A-1a. Therefore the JG 7 markings seem to be more appropriate then when displayed at Cosford. The '2' would suggest III./EJG 2.
R9125 was delivered to 225 Sqaudron at Tilshead in Wiltshire on the 29th September 1940. Later the aircraft went to 161(SD) Squadron, although there is no evidence that R9125 flew operationally with this unit. The Lysander came to the RAF Museum in 1971.
ZH588 (DA2), the first UK prototype, made its first flight on 6 April 1994. In 2001 the aircraft deployed to RAF Leuchars and has since carried 43 Squadron's 'Fighting Cock' on the fin. The Typhoon came to the RAF Museum on the 22nd January 2008.
