Seen here on display in the Grahame White Factory hangar, the aircraft went to Cosford in July 2014. The orignal A8226, in service with C-Flight, No.45 Squadron, RFC, was shot down near Ypres, Belgium, on 27 May 1917, killing both crew.
N5628 of No.263 Squadron, probably coded 'HE-B', had been damaged on 25 April 1940, in a German air raid on the squadron's ice airfield on Lesjaskogsvatnet, Norway. When the ice melted in the spring warmth, the Gladiator sank to the bottom of the lake.
Canadian Vickers-built Stranraer RCAF-920 has code 'QN' of No.5 (Bomber Reconnaissance) Squadron on the rear fuselage. In November 1940 the squadron was part of Eastern Air Command. This unit was baed at RCAF base Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
