This cockpit is of Meteor VZ477, one of at least 14 F.8's converted by Flight Refuelling Ltd. Fitted with a refuelling probe on the nose, the Meteor took part in an extensive operational trial, carried out by 245 Squadron, RAF Horsham St. Faith in 1951.

After testing the Meteor F.3, the Royal Navy had thoughts about operating the F.4 as a ship-board fighter. To this end EE531 which was originally used for gunnery trials, transferred to Heston Aircraft in August 1946 for wing-folding experiments.
