Removed 1984 due to dangerous corrosion and later used for fire training. Finally scrapped 1994 Here shown repainted with the colors available in the 57th FIS paintshop at this time with camouglaged F-4Cs. Plus for 1976 a bicentennial bell on the fin.

After having been taken down from its display pole, it is seen lying forlornly near the fire pit. Belonging to the USAF museum, preserving it here was impossible to arrange, and thus it ended up being burned on the fire pan. Sad end of a beautiful bird.

The Louisiana ANGs 159th FW brought 8 F-4Cs to Keflavik to augment the 57th, as some of their F-4Es went to William Tell 82, where they won the F-4 category. The nickname "Coonass Militia" was in 1992 deemed "politically incorrect". Became "Cajun milita"

Shown in its original 57th FIS camouflage and markings. The kill marking shown on some other photos of it from Keflavik, is not displayed on the right hand side, but the bicentennial marking is prominent.

A Langley based F-15C from the 1st Wing after taking on fuel from a KC-135R. I quickly learned to ask the boomer to ask the recieving pilots to move slowly back from the boom and to their right, and pause for a moment to get some good shots like this one.

Six F-4Cs from the 136th FIS/107 FIG deployed to Keflavik whilst 7 F-4Es from the 57 FIS took part in COPPER FLAG at Tyndall AFB.

Two of the F-89Ds that operated with the 57th FIS from 1955-1962 stand on the fire pan at Keflavik as hulks. 248 had an engine explode on 21.March 1962 during a mission over Iceland, but was able to recover to Keflavik on one engine.

The Convair F-106A Delta Dart served as an augmentation force for a few weeks in 1978 when the 57th FIS was converting to the F-4E. Four Aircraft from the 87th FIS were stationed at Keflavik then. 95 during takeoff for a practice mission.

When one is asked to take a group photo of all the aircraft belonging to Air Forces Iceland, of course you say "YES". Then the only timeslot is 60 minutes at 0600 on a spring morning in Iceland, the sun just does not shine, the result is historic grey.

538 is another of the European One schemed F-4Ds that arrived in Keflavik in the spring of 1986 to augment the 57th FIS. These were all from the 113 TFW DC ANG based at Andrews AFB. 538 was wfu in january 1989 at AMARC with the park code of FP0207.

556 was also one of the European One painted F-4Ds that augmented the 57th FIS in April 1986. It was wfu on 26 sep 1989 at AMARC and received the park number of FP0311.P0432.

688 came to Keflavik with a number of other DC ANG F-4Ds to augment the 57th FIS while a part of its F-15Cs were in the US. 688 was wfu 18 jun 1990 at AMARC with the field code FP0432.

A number of F-4Ds from the 113 TFW of the Washington DC ANG came to Keflavik to augment the 57th FIS. Both the Hill Gray scheme like on 509 and the Europe One scheme were represented. 509 was wfu on 11 jan 1990 at AMARC with the field code FP0422.

One of the EP-3Es from Rota usually meant that the Russian fleet was somewhere close to Iceland for a fleet exercise. This was the first time I saw and EP-3E from Rota, Spain with a fin insignia and full markings.

One of the four F-15Cs from the 1st Wing at Langley, that arrived on January 4, 1998, is taking off from runway 11 in the early afternoon of January 6. The sun is very low on the horizon, barely peeking from the low clouds.
