The third prototype of the EH-101/AW-101 Merlin was configured as a civil variant. G-EHIL was allocated British military serial ZH647 in 1993 and continued development flying until April 1999.
Taken in September 1999 on a photographic mission to Kulusuk, Greenland, the weather and the icebergs cooperated in a superb way. The aircraft was on its way back from a sales tour of Canada, which purchased a number for rescue duties.
