419 "Moose" Sqn jet in the CF-5's final "Ghost" camo scheme. The red zap on the intake roundel adds a hint of colour. Note the open auxiliary intake doors.
419 "Moose" Sqn jet in traditional CF-5 European camo, but with a "Ghost" scheme drop tank. Note the Sidewinder rail on the wingtip in place of the usual fuel tank.
419 "Moose" demo jet at the 1994 Abbotsford airshow. This was the last time I saw active CF-5s; soon after, the Canadian government announced that the CF-5 fleet would be retired, and by the following Spring they were gone. :(

Sporting Centennial of Flight markings, this 410 Sqn dual was used as a traveling companion and spare for the 2003 demo jet (188720). I’m told ‘906 ran out of airframe hours and was recently scrapped. :(
From 2004 onward, the Canadian Forces have had a single CF-18 demo team, alternating between 410 Sqn at Cold Lake, AB and 425 Sqn at Bagotville, PQ. Hi-viz markings have usually been limited to the tails. :( Here’s the 2004 demo jet, from 425.
When is a Cougar a Tiger? 410 Squadron and 4 Wing Cold Lake hosted the second Tiger Meet of the Americas in 2003. Their “Tiger”-themed jet was also used as the West Coast CF-18 demonstration aircraft.
Several CF-18s have served as demo aircraft in multiple years. 188796 did so in 2000 and 2001; this is the later version, painted to mark 410 Sqn’s 60th Anniversary. The tail markings show some of the other aircraft the Cougars have flown.
410 Sqn jet painted up for the 75th anniversary of the RCAF and Canadian Forces Air Command in 1999. Trim is RCAF blue, and that’s the RCAF crest and tartan on the tail.
