Skytrain A65-105 was allocated to 37 Squadron in April 1945 and served various RAAF units, including the ARDU. Registered VH-UPQ in July 1969 for the Department of Supply, Short Brothers used her as a support aircraft at the Woomera Rocket Range.
This C-47 was TOC by the USAAF in 1945 as 45-0928 and went post-war to the Royal Moroccan Air Force with serial 05928 and subsequently CN-ALE. The frame has been restored by the super MAPS Air Museum and is now on static display.
Originally USAAF S/N 43-48377, this C-47 flew over the Hump during WWII, and then was converted to a DC-3 with a VIP interior in 1953, being used by Johnson and Johnson for a short while. It now carries a Pan Am livery, but maintains a VIP interior.
A65-69 arrived at RAF Gatow on the 18th of June, 1980, under temporary RAF identity ZD215. The Dakota was presented by the RAAF to the people of (then) West Berlin to commemorate the involvement of the Royal Australian Air Force in the Berlin Airlift.
