Stored in the Western International yard since 2006, this VC-131D still wore the markings of the 178th FIS, 119th FIG, North Dakota ANG, Fargo ANGB, ND, also known as the 'Happy Hooligans'.
A unique aircraft still in service at the 1986 Mildenhall Air Fete, this Convair C-131F BuNo 141023 was operated by NAS Sigonella. She entered MASDC on 2nd June 1986 so when this photo was taken she had literally days left in active service.
I had thought this aircraft had gone the way of the dodo bird. I remember seeing it fly around years ago. It is called a TIFS (Total In-Flight Simulator) and was made from a Convair C-131.
