The Spitfire tailchases at Duxford are always pretty spectacular, this years display at Flying Legends was no exception, PL344 leads a trio into the attack, a particularly poignant image in 2010, the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
TA805 was originally built as a Spitfire HF.IXe (with Merlin 70) and served with 234 Squadron at RAF Bentwaters in the summer of 1945. The Spitfire was restored by ARCo at Duxford and is now powered by a Merlin 66.
Peter Monk's Spitfire received invasion striping on 25 April and is seen here on the ARC/HFL flightline. The markings are those of 234 Squadron. Spitfire Limited's TD248 is on the left.
