On 13 April, 1940, ‘CA+JY’ of 4./KGrzbV 103 landed on the ice of Hartvikvatnet, near Narvik, northern Norway. With the arrival of spring, the ice melted and the Ju 52 sank to the bottom of the lake. The aircraft was recovered in 1983.

On 12 April, 1940, 6134 '1Z+BY' of 3./Kgr zbV took off from Tempelhof for a supply mission to the Narvik area. Encountering bad weather, the Ju 52 landed on the ice of the Hartvikvatnet, but sank to the bottom of the lake as the ice melted a month later.
