This AT-6D was initially built for the USAAF as ‘41-33928’ but was transferred to the RAF as ‘EX955’. It never saw service with the RAF as it was directly delivered to the South African Air Force in 1943, where it served as ‘7499’ until 1995.
Maurice Hammond's Harvard III is dedicated as a flying tribute to the 8th Air Force, USAAF, and in particular to the 100th Bomb Group, the "Bloody Hundredth", stationed at Thorpe Abbotts, Norfolk.
LN-AMY was operated by the OFMC at Duxford for a number of years. It is now based at Shuttleworth and hangared at the farm on the eastern side of the aerodrome.
