It's the last of the pack! Switzerland had 18 AMIR (so we called the Mirage IIIRS). A stands for Aufklärung, what means reconnaissance and MIR stands for Mirage. The noseart (Mata Hari) is a tradition, allways for the last airplane from every series.

The LIRAS-Pod (IR-Pod, Luftgestüztes IR-AufklärerSystem) was rare seen during daylight operations - Jackpot of the Year with two Mirages equipped, 2nd is R-2108. Trg for Open Day a day later, but then without LIRAS (nearly identic to RED BARON of Sweden).

'Schnägg' - meaning 'Snail' - stands for Capt. René 'Schnägg' Schneider. And 'his' aircraft received this special marking for his last flight in November 2002. Sold at auction at Buochs on 26th Nov 2004 for 37'400.- CHF

Good old Times - Black and White (R-2116) Mirages taking off from Buochs, the hill in the background is now quite full with expensive houses. Naturally with people living there who are against that little air traffic now on that base.

AMIR 07 in the bright autumn sun. You can see clearly how the camouflage works with the background. Also you can see the problem number one on swiss airfields - all the new buildings coming nearer and people will opposite to further activity.

This is the normal kind of picture you can take when a Mirage arrives above you in Switzerland - but you still had to be very fast ! Nowadays our fastest Recce (ADS-95 Ranger) is 220km/h - Recce-Runs with Mirages where often with 950km/h ...
