On this side, F.53 53-686 has the colours of 74 Squadron applied, representing XR768, the first full-production F.6 for the RAF, delivered to 74 on 1 August 1966. XR768/A was the personal mount of W/C K.J. 'Ken’ Goodwin, CO, 74 Squadron from 1966-69.

Former RSAF Lightning F.53 (serial 53-672) dressed in late No.5 Squadron colours, representing Lightning F.6 XS935 as flown by the unit from RAF Binbrook in the autumn of 1987. The aircraft was scrapped in the spring of 1988.

F.53 ZF584 was flown back from Tabuk AB, Saudi Arabia, to the UK by Mike Chatterton, arriving at BAe Warton on the 22nd January, 1986. Finished in the eye-catching Treble One Squadron F.3 c/s of the mid-sixties, he unveiled 'his' Lightning in May 2011.

This former Saudi Lightning F.53 serial ZF578 was on display at the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum in the new Meryl Hansed Memorial Hall. She is marked as a Lightning F.6 serial XR753. This close-up the Lightning is a huge aircraft!
