Ordered by the USAF as 51-7176, but was delivered to the US Coast Guard as 7176. It is displayed here in a rather poor state at the Pate Museum of Transportation, just south of Fort Worth, TX.
Stationed during her service life at MCAS Iwakuni on Japan, this old bird languishes in one of the scrapyards bordering DM. Also carried the civil reg. N70270 and the AMARC No. 1U 016 is visible on the nose.
An interesting sight at Lakeland in early 1990 was this HU-16D Albatross which was being restored to her U.S. Navy colours. Yes, I was allowed to sit in the pilot's seat!
Originally built as an SA-16A Albatross, this aircraft was transferred to the U.S. Coast Guard as a UF-1G, later redesignated as an HU-16E. She was photographed in store at AMARC in November 1989.
An unusual addition to the airshow static at Point Mugu in 1989, this Albatross Bu.No 142361 was originally constructed as an UF-1G for the U.S. Coastguard and would have been redesignated as an HU-16 in the early 60's.
