A close-up of the cockpit section of this Handley Page Victor K2, in the static during the IAT at RAF Greenham Common. This oldie had a very futuristic shape! Scan from old slide.
The 1991 Mildenhall Air Fete static included a number of aircraft that had taken part in the first Gulf War. This H.P Victor K.2 XM717 was one of those aircraft and she wore "Lucky Lou" nose art.
Caught from the Photobus at the 1985 IAT at RAF Fairford, XL164 was then operated by 57 Sqn. She would later serve in the first Gulf War as 'Saucy Sal' and when scrapped her nose was preserved by the Gatwick Aviation Museum.
