The Swiss operated newly built Hunter F58 and refurbished Hunter F58A. Most Hunter F58A were scrapped in 1992, while the Hunter F58 soldiered on until late 1994. J-4120 was scrapped at Dubendorf in 1992 as well.
I consider Raron the most beautifull positioned airfield in Switzerland. The backdrop is magnificent. Unfortunately the base was closed after this exercise.
Sporting the colour scheme of the RAF Aerobatic Team 'The Black Arrows' this Hunter was one of the small fleet maintained at Scampton for use in engineering management training. Scanned from Kodachrome 64 slide.
After closure of the RAFG stations their Hunter gateguard was transported to the Luftwaffemuseum at Uetersen. Since than the Hunter has been repainted in 4 Sq markings and went to Gatow.
