The Spad XVI is a two-seat version of the very successful single-seat Spad fighters of WWI, the Spad VII and the Spad XIII. This particular plane was built in 1918 and was flown by Brigadier General William "Billy" Mitchell.

Looking decidedly airworthy, this ex-MI ANG Phantom was in fact Mildenhall's Battle Damage Repair Training aircraft
