A fighter jockey at the controls: after making speed over the runway the KDC-10 was pulled up steeply and climbed out fast. Not often you get the chance to see the serials on top of the wings.

For me one of the highlights at the 2008 Leeuwarden open days was this Dutch KDC-10 who flew in this position across the entire runway followed by a very impressive steep climb.

More than a year after the first KDC-10 was painted in a new colour scheme the second one, called “Jan Scheffer”, switched from white into grey. The photo was shot on final approach at it’s home base.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of 334sqn special colors were added to the tail of this KDC-10. Unfortunately they were quickly removed again as RNLAF staf members were not so pleased with these markings.
