This is an F-111F serial 70-2364 on display in the centre of Portales, NM. My photo comment is "She is marked as '27 FW / City of Portales' and serial '68140'" and the key word is "marked as". The details of my photo are correct.
The real F-111D serial 68-0140 is on display at Clovis NM and is marked as '27 FW / City of Clovis' . She is in a purpose built memorial park and I have taken photos of this aircraft as well.
Why two F-111 'Varks in the same area marked with the same serial? I am not sure why, I would guess that 68-0140 wore the '27 FW' markings and both these New Mexico cities which had close contacts with Cannon AFB wanted memorials in these colours.
