    Talk about a one-time only colorscheme. Caught by a shortage of F-4s, this one just recently arrived and being prepared for painting in the grey 57th colors, was pulled from the paintshop and flown on operations. This decision caused some career problems.

Saw one like this at Bergstrom AFB, Austin, TX, but it was August 1990.

Unfortunately while with the 335th TFS, 4th TFW this aircraft crashed on Sept 5, 1986 shortly after takeoff from SJ AFB. Some how the aircraft lost power and crash landed where there were just building I-40. They were very lucky.
