I think you mean a Scanner ? For scanning slides the best thing you can get is an film scanner - if you have a lot of slides then you buy one or if you have not so many you can maybe rent one too.

Ok, it's also possible to scan slides with 'cheaper' Flatbed Scanners. The quality of the scan is then not so good, but you are more flexible with scanning also some documents of yours.

I own a Nikon IV-negative/slide-scanner and I'm happy with it. You can see some of the results here on Airfighters, everything before 2003 was made on wetfilm/slide and scanned with this scanner.
Before this I had an Canon 2700F negative/slide scanner. It was a good scanner, but the bulb inside had not suvived very long. For that I had to change it.

The differences between the 3 big manufacturers Nikon/Minolta and Reflecta (Minolta and Reflecta uses the ICE-technology invented by Nikon) are not so big. Canon produces no more that kind of scanners.
For choosing the right one, you have to look at:

- Scantime per slide
- possibility to put more than one slide at a time in the scanner (maybe only possible with expensive Extra's (NIKON !)
- price
- Slide-Scanners are quit loud and it's mostly not recommended to work the same time on other things on the computer

On his german site (this article is not yet translatet to english, sorry), Patrick Wagner had put some Scanners in relation. Nikon's Super Coolscan 9000 ED is the best one there.

Anyway, I recommend also to buy the NeatImage-Filter to digitalyse your slides (filter for photoshop) ! It helped me a lot to upload my pictures to airfighters, especially my old wetfilms where quit noisy.
