Hi all,
You may have noticed the "Info" link on the search results page, as can be soon on the F-16C here for example, and wondered what that's all about. Well, that links to a specifications pop-up for that particular aircraft. We started implementing this a few weeks ago and have been perfecting it ever since. I think it is now ready for mass roll-out for all aircraft types. What you see there is a basic aircraft info page, and will soon be a part of a more detailed specifications page, that will include all the data seen in the pop-up, and more. But before, we can roll out the more detailed pages, we have to complete the basic info, which in itself is a lot of work and can be a bit time consuming.

John, Gary, and I have done a few here to get a feel for it, and we soon discovered that we can't do it all by ourselves. So, this is your chance to help out with the data and be a part of the team. We are looking for 3-5 people to be titled with the position of "Aircraft Details Editor". We can change that later if needed, but lets call it that for now.

To qualify, you have to have a reasonable command of the English language. You have to be somewhat familiar with aircraft types and designations. You have to be a bit web savvy to know where to look for aircraft specifications. A deep knowledge of aircraft systems, etc. is not required as all the data can be found in print, or online at Wikipedia, manufacturer's websites, and other aircraft info sites. More importantly, you have to be a team player and must be able to commit at least 3-5 hours per week to the position. It takes about 20-30 minutes to look up and fill in the info for each aircraft, so please be aware of that and the weekly time requirements.

So, if you are interested in applying for the position, please send me a PM with a little info about yourself and why you want the position. Both photographers and members can apply. I will discuss the applications with the rest of the crew and will make a formal announcement here when complete. Good luck to all.

Hi Guys,
Judging from some of the questions I've received so far, it seems I may have been a little too strict with the time requirements. Well, we don't have a time card system or anything like that, so if you can't do half hour a day on some days, or none on certain weeks, that is ok. We know that there is life outside of airfighters.com.

To give a little more info, you would basically be entering the data to a sheet that is already preformatted and all the slots are there to simply fill in. You don't need to know html or anything like that. If you can type, you are qualified for the position. :wink Please let me know if you have any questions. Together, we can get this done more quickly, and it will be a nice addition to the site accompanying each photo.
