Hi all,
I wanted to get an idea of how many people actually end up printing their photos. If I could get some info like how many photos you print in a given month/year, what size, and which professional service you use, if any, that would be great. Thanks for your help.

Hi Ray,

I tend to print my pics via my own printer and Paintshop Pro X. I print them on A4 glossy photo paper and put them in clear plastic frames. I have a bit of a montage going with about 30 of my pics going up the staircase wall lol !

I have recently had a really nice calendar produced via webshots.com where I have a number of albums located. I did a calendar for my mum with pictures of her Irish Wolfhound on and it came out really really well. Am considering ordering a few more nearer the start of 2009 with various airshow pics and send them out as Christmas presents. The calendar itself (poster size) was about £15 to buy and a further £15 for postage from the states. It was about a 3 week turnaround I think.

I don't bother printing my pics via high street shops or anything like that.

Cheers,

Tim

I send my pictures to an online print service. About 20 to 30 each year. If I want a print from a picture I mostly want it in 20x40 or 40x60.

I have had pretty good results printing on my own with my Canon i850 printer, but if it's anything larger than 8.5x11" then I'll use either adorama or ezprints.com. Haven't ordered any prints lately, but I need to get caught up sometime.

I recently made a photo book (of the Gathering of Mustangs & Legends) using iphoto on my mac, and it turned out very nice, they are professional quality. Around $30 for 20 or so pages. I'm thinking of making a couple just for a portfolio...

I normaly get my images in 20"X30" as it is easy to drop into a frame. I currenly get my stuff printed through Smugmug.com however they have switched from Fuji to Kodak, and I am debating weither or not I like the change. My 20X30's run me around $21 US, but being I use their photo sharing service as a backup/storage option, as well as a way for pilots to get their photos instead of email, they give me a better rate I think.

If I'm doing something like a 4X6 or 8X10, I'll just use my Canon printer. If I need something bigger than that, I'll usually use Costco, and I've had good luck with them. I want to try Canvaspeople.com soon and get a canvas print done. We also use Shutterfly.com for photobooks.

Ray,

there are very few in the year (5-10). The old motifs were nicer (F-14,F-111 etc). Because it is difficult to replace it. See the printed much nicer than on the computer

My favorite is sharpprints.com, love using them, and the metallic finish is super nice on the right photo. Really cheap, too. Probably just as cheap as it would cost to print at home.
