I can't figure out what model fighter I see on Google Maps at 41.648180, -70.521521 on Otis ANGB, Cape Cod. There are 4 vintage fighters: an F-100 next to an F-86 parked in front of a T-33 and a 4th jet that I can't ID. This 4th jet is about the size of the F-86 but it has 2 noticeable differences in plan view: the horizontal stabilizers/stabilators have a constant cord - not tapered like the F-86; and the wing root is longer than the Sabre's.
I have a screen shot from Google Maps, but can't figure out how to embed it here. Let me know what you think, please. |

Thanks so much. Now that I see photos of the F-84F I agree. I knew aviation photography folks could ID this in a flash.
I see you even know the BuNo. I feel like I'm dipping into a different reality where a whole sub-culture of enthusiasts know the location and BuNo of every U.S. fighter. Cheers |

Yeah, you are correct with this 'sub-culture' ::thumb_grin} I don't know if there is a special online version of it, but for those grounded ones there are some good books around - with yearly updates/new editions. I don't know if I may advertise some, so try www search for: - Wrecks and Relics - Military Out of Service Have fun and there are some more 'Google Earth Spotters' out there (not myself) Muuuuhhh - welcome in the land of milk and chocolate |
